Rally Estonia and KWOTA begin partnership to take sustainability to another level
The big round of the FIA World Rally Championship Rally Estonia, the largest and most prestigious rallying event in the Baltic region, has announced an exciting cooperation with KWOTA, a leading SaaS platform for carbon emissions savings verification, and trading. The partnership aims to compensate Rally Estonia's carbon footprint of 600 tonnes through increased circularity and material reuse in material production, showcasing the event's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. KWOTA enables businesses to actively reduce their carbon footprint in the present while they make the transition to long term sustainable practices.
WRC Rally Estonia hosted its first event in 2010, today it is the World Championship round for the fourth year in a row and has won the hearts of both drivers and spectators with its professional organization, technical gravel roads and specially built rally tracks. Now that motorsport is under increasing pressure to reduce its carbon emissions, Rally Estonia is the first WRC event that proactively, in cooperation with KWOTA, as well as other sustainable activities has begun to further reduce the environmental impact of the rally.
KWOTA's innovative and unique approach to carbon compensation sets it apart from traditional initiatives. KWOTA generates carbon savings from increased material recycling and recovery in the industry, which is an effective and immediate way of reducing CO2 emissions. In cooperation with KWOTA, Rally Estonia aims to collectively compensate for 600 tonnes of CO2, involving the participation of supporters, spectators, sponsors, and partners.
"Rally Estonia is happy to join forces with KWOTA to tackle the importance of a circular economy and its impact on carbon reductions" said Urmo Aava, Director of Rally Estonia. "We believe in taking immediate action to reduce our impact on the environment, and KWOTA's unique solution provides us with a tangible way to make a difference while we transition to sustainable long term solutions."
KWOTA's platform enables material producers to increase the share of recyclable materials in their production or supply chain, resulting in verified CO2 reduction. For every 1.6 tonnes of materials recycled, 1 tonne of CO2 is reduced in the production process. By purchasing KWOTA tokens available on the rallyestonia.com website, spectators can contribute on emission efforts for as little as 2€ for a 1-day pass or a 5€ token for those attending all four days. Additionally, larger partners have the option to compensate at a per-tonne basis directly through Rally Estonia.
"We are excited to partner with Rally Estonia, a forward-thinking organization that shares our vision for sustainability," said Rain Vääna, CEO of KWOTA. "Through this collaboration, we aim to showcase the immediate positive impact that can be achieved when rallying enthusiasts and motorsports companies take accountability for their actions and actively contribute to compensating carbon emissions and increasing circularity which is our mission and purpose." Rain further remarked that the first 500 users to join KWOTA will be entered into a raffle with a chance to win exciting sustainable prizes and giveaways leading up to the event.
This partnership between Rally Estonia and KWOTA exemplifies the motorsports industry's dedication to finding innovative solutions for carbon emissions. By compensating its carbon footprint, Rally Estonia not only demonstrates its commitment to the environment but also sets a precedent for other events and organizations to follow suit.
