What I learned about ERC auto24 Rally Estonia. By Craig Breen

With auto24 Rally Estonia not part of Craig Breen’s FIA European Rally Championship schedule for 2014, the Irishman still kept a close eye on the high-speed action back home in his native Ireland. This is what he thought.

“I live for rallying so I sat down for every stage and watched every time and every split come in and it looked like it was a great event. Of course I also watched the fantastic coverage on Eurosport and probably the biggest talking point for me was that mad Russian [Alexey Lukyanuk] in the Group N Mitsubishi. I was really impressed watching his onboard but, to be honest, the whole event looked really nice.

“Of course I missed not being there and it was hard for the championship as well but that’s the way our programme with Peugeot Rally Academy was set out at the start of the year. For sure I was itching to be there, to be competing but I’ve got my own events to look forward to.

“But I guess the biggest thing I learned is that it’s better to be driving rather than being at home spectating. I did the event before in 2011 and they were using similar stages this year. I know what a beautiful rally it is and how well organised it is. I was quite jealous of the people who were there.”
