The entry list of auto24 Rally Estonia, sixth round of FIA ERC European rally championship expands every day. Total 30 entries are in the list and amongst the series leaders Craig Breen-Scott Martin with Peugeot 208 T16 R5. For the Peugeot Rally Academy driver Breen it is not the first time to compete in Estonia as in 2011 was he second in his class in auto24 Rally Estonia. He and Gareth Roberts were driving then Ford Fiesta R2. 2011 was the year when they won WRC Academy after stunning last round in Wales ahead Estonian driver Egon Kaur. Old rivals meet again as Egon Kaur participates in auto24 Rally Estonia with Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 9.
It is the first time for the 8-times Finnish champion Juha Salo to compete in Estonia, co-drived by Marko Salminen in Peugeot 208 T16 R5. As we talk about Estonian drivers many fast drivers are already in the entry list. Siim Plangi and Marek Sarapuu (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X) showed very good pace in Rally Liepaja where they were second after Craig Breen and ERC 2 class winners. Raul Jeets and Andrus Toom are after Rally Liepaja and Circuit of Rally Ireland back and ready for the fight. Last year Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy winners and 2015 WRC2 regulars Sander Pärn-James Morgen will do their first start this year in FIA ERC. Both crews use Ford Fiesta R5 cars from Markko Märtin’s MM-Motorsport team.
Young Teemu Suninen is a Finnish driver who is named as a future star of rallying. Toyota Motorsport added him to its Junior Driver Development squad and he lately won WRC3 category in Rally Sardegna. In auto24 Rally Estonia he will compete with Skoda Fabia S2000, his co-driver is highly experienced Mikko Markkula.
This year auto24 Rally Estonia hosts also ERC Junior class. Top drivers of the ERC Juniors are already in the entry list. Series leaders Emil Bergkvist-Joakim Sjöberg (Opel Adam R2) and second place crew Chris Ingram-Gabin Moreau (Peugeot 208 R2). But it will not be an easy task for them as the will be challenged by fast Estonian and Latvian drivers.
